 Speen School PTA

Welcome to Speen School Parent Teacher Association. We are an active group of parents and carers who work together to raise additional funds for Speen school through social and in-school events for both parents and children! We are a registered charity, and as such have a core committee, but when your children join the school, we all become a part of the PTA.

The funds we have raised have enabled the purchase of many additional items for the school. Most recently, we have been working on playground renovations; having purchased a wooden pirate ship for the playground, and we are currently revamping the outside story-telling area. Previously, we have also funded coaches to transport children on school trips, reading materials, computer equipment, storage space for equipment and much more! We also bring some additional cheer to the classroom having funded in 2024 an amazing art workshop led by Creative Station; and we provide supplies for the children's Christmas parties, and sports day treats.

These funds are raised through many events, but the most notable are:

Christmas Fayre: A chance for families to come together for some Christmas cheer, with stalls, food and singing from the children. Quiz Night: Normally our first social of the year, it is a chance to meet new members of the school community. Wreath Making Course: Come and make a festive wreath to adorn your door this Christmas. Fun days for the children: Including ‘Break the rules day’ Mufti days. Safari Supper: A multi-venue dinner party which is not to be missed!

We are always looking for new ways to fundraise for the school.

Speen PTA has close ties with the wider community, and are heavily involved in the annual Speen Village Fete. The PTA run a number of stalls at this event, and the children do an annual country dancing performance. There is always lots of entertainment for the children!

A biannual event, which will be running in 2025, is the Speen Community Ball. This brings together the villagers of Speen and the school community for a three-course meal and live band. In 2023 our ball was themed ‘Mad Hatters’... the 2025 theme will be revealed soon! In 2023 this event alone raised over £5000.

Finally we also help support the Speen Bonfire Night by running the BBQ. This event attracts nearly 500 locals to come and watch our infamous guy burn, and fireworks display. Our PTA only works with the support of our parents and carers!
